Why choose a Spanish Immersion program?

This idea is nothing new. For the last century Europeans have taught their students to be fluent in French, German and English.  Through our modern technologies we are plugged into a global audience and knowing more than one language allows us to reach more people, not just in our community, but all around the world.  The aim of the Dual Language programs  is to first immerse students in the target language (Spanish) and to gradually add English so that by fourth or fifth grade students are biliterate, using both languages to learn math, history, science, literature, grammar, spelling and art.  It’s truly remarkable, that a 10 year old can have command of two languages and can communicate clearly in both languages.  How many high school seniors can boast that when they’ve taken the three years of a second language course?  That is why these programs are so popular in Chula Vista.  There are waiting lists for students to be accepted into these programs.  Having this type of preparation in the preschool years helps increase your chances of success and acceptance into these programs.  If you have any questions or comments about Spanish immersion please contact me via email or phone.

My son is currently enrolled in DLP his in 3rd grade however due to financial hardship we had to move to Eastlake trails I’m going to ask for a transfer for next year. I interested in enrolling my daughter in the program she will be 4 years old in June. If there are a lot of spots available I will talk to the school to see if they will accept her. How many classes will you have for pre-school?

Currently I am a kindergarten teacher but I will be taking leave for the next school year to start the preschool out of my home. This preschool is not connected with Salt Creek, but most of the students (I assume) will be going to Salt Creek. I have room for up to 7 students with the possibility of adding more students if there is a waiting list. I would encourage you to come to my classroom (room 607) tomorrow evening (Thursday) at 6:00 for more information. Even if your daughter will be attending another school with a DI program, the pre-k program will still prepare her in Spanish.
